Introduction
The Secondary School Management System is a tool designed for examination officers to generate student reports efficiently. It works by allowing users to upload Excel sheets with student scores in any order; the system automatically sorts the data correctly and generates the corresponding reports.
What Inspired Me
At the time, I was a student at Mzuzu University, pursuing a degree in Land Management and Land Surveying. While taking a course in End-User Computing, I met IT students who were learning web development and other computer-related subjects.Mzuzu University had an online student portal, which I found to be an excellent platform. That experience sparked a thought: "What if I could build a school management system for secondary schools, just like this?"I returned to my room and shared the idea with my colleagues. We had been working on small school projects together, and we decided to start building it.
Our First Customer
During my third year at university, my colleagues—who were in their fourth year—left for teacher training and attachments. They introduced our project to the staff at Katoto Secondary School in Mzuzu City. The school liked the system and began using it right away.Since then, they’ve requested additional features, and I’ve continued improving the system based on their feedback.
As of Today
We have hosted the project online, and it is available at https://malawi-schools.com.Several well-known schools in Malawi, including Ekwendeni Girls and Moyale Barracks Secondary School, are actively using the system. We are also expanding to more secondary schools in the southern region of Malawi. If you run a school and would like to try out our School Management System, feel free to contact us via email at liwewerobati@gmail.com or by phone/WhatsApp at +265 992 921 134.
