The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has donated K5 million to the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi to support this year's World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) commemorations. MRA's Acting Head of Corporate Affairs, Wilma Chalulu, emphasized the importance of journalists in promoting voluntary tax compliance and disseminating accurate information.
"MISA Malawi is a key partner in our efforts to achieve national development through tax revenue," Chalulu said. "The media plays a vital role in ensuring the public receives accurate information."
MISA Malawi's Chikondi Kasambara expressed gratitude for the timely donation, which will aid in hosting the WPFD event in Mzuzu on Saturday. Notably, MRA also sponsors the Business Journalist of the Year award, recognizing outstanding business reporting in the country.
